Description

A rich and moist sheet cake packed with double the peanut butter flavor, perfect for feeding a crowd. The cake base is made using a boiling method similar to a Texas Sheet Cake, resulting in a dense and tender crumb. It is topped with a creamy, sweet peanut butter frosting for the ultimate peanut butter lover’s dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking sheet (jelly roll pan).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the 1 cup of butter. Stir in 1 cup of peanut butter and the water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Pour the hot peanut butter mixture over the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  5. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add this to the batter and mix until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly to the edges.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the cake is cooling, prepare the frosting: In a medium bowl, beat together the softened butter, 1 cup peanut butter, powdered sugar, milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  9. Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • This cake uses a method similar to Texas Sheet Cake, where boiling the liquid ingredients ensures a very moist texture.
  • Make sure the cake is completely cool before frosting, otherwise the butter in the frosting will melt.
  • For extra texture, you can sprinkle chopped peanuts or mini chocolate chips over the frosting.
