- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup (60ml) molasses
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Optional Add-Ins and Toppings
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Drizzle of white chocolate or royal icing for decoration
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving overhangs for easy removal.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together:
- Flour
- Ginger
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Cloves
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Set the bowl aside.
Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the molasses and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
Step 4: Combine and Add Mix-Ins
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir just until combined—don’t overmix!
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips for added richness.
Step 5: Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan.
Step 6: Decorate and Serve
- Once cool, remove the brownies from the pan using the parchment paper overhangs.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted white chocolate for a festive touch.
- Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
Tips for Success
- Don’t Overbake: Check your brownies a few minutes early to ensure they remain fudgy.
- Mix-In Variations: Try chopped nuts, dried cranberries, or a sprinkle of sea salt on top for added texture and flavor.
- Storage: Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
