Ingredients
Scale
For the Filling
- 1 package (15.25 oz) red velvet Oreo cookies (or your preferred flavor)
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
For the Coating
- 1 cup (150g) green candy melts or white chocolate, melted
- Green food coloring (if using white chocolate)
Decorations
- Crushed red Oreos or red heart sprinkles (for Grinch’s heart)
- Green sprinkles or edible pearls (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- Crush the Oreos
- Place the Oreo cookies (including the filling) in a food processor or blender. Pulse until the cookies are finely crushed into crumbs.
- Mix with Cream Cheese
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and softened cream cheese. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to blend until smooth and well combined.
- Shape the Balls
- Scoop out small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Chill the Balls
- Refrigerate the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes, or until firm.
Step 2: Prepare the Coating
- Melt the Chocolate
- In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the green candy melts or white chocolate. If using white chocolate, stir in green food coloring to achieve a vibrant Grinch-green color.
- Dip the Oreo Balls
- Using a dipping fork or spoon, coat each Oreo ball in the melted chocolate. Tap off the excess and place the coated ball back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Decorate While Wet
- Before the chocolate hardens, press a red heart sprinkle or crushed red Oreo piece onto each ball for the Grinch’s heart. Add green sprinkles or edible pearls if desired.
Step 3: Set and Serve
- Chill the Coated Balls
- Place the decorated Oreo balls in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully set.
- Serve
- Arrange the Grinch Oreo Balls on a festive platter and enjoy!
Notes
Tips for Success
- Smooth Chocolate Coating: Work quickly while dipping to prevent the chocolate from hardening before decorating.
- Perfect Texture: Ensure the Oreo and cream cheese mixture is well chilled before dipping to maintain the ball’s shape.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
