Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp (30g) melted butter
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 2 cups (300g) diced apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar or glaze for topping
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the batter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, carefully drop dollops of batter into the hot oil, frying 4-5 bites at a time to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry each fritter bite for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with your choice of glaze before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
