Apple Fritter Bites: Easy Homemade Mini Treats

  • Author: Jessica

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp (30g) melted butter
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 cups (300g) diced apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar or glaze for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed in the batter.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, carefully drop dollops of batter into the hot oil, frying 4-5 bites at a time to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry each fritter bite for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with your choice of glaze before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
