- For the Chicken:
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- For the Sauce:
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup diced onions (optional for added flavor)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken:
- Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Slow Cook the Chicken:
- Place the seasoned chicken in the crockpot. Add the diced onions (if using).
- Pour the prepared BBQ sauce mixture evenly over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Shred the Chicken:
- Once the chicken is done, use two forks to shred it directly in the crockpot.
- Stir the shredded chicken into the sauce, making sure it’s evenly coated.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Serve the BBQ chicken on sandwich buns, in tacos, over rice, or alongside your favorite sides. Add extra BBQ sauce if desired.
