For the Cookie Dough:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Mix-Ins:

  • 2 cups high-quality white chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or dried cranberries

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

2. Combine the Ingredients:

  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cookies tender.
  2. Fold in the white chocolate chips and any optional add-ins like peppermint candies or cranberries.

3. Shape and Bake:

  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
