Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 slices crispy bacon, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: sesame seeds, toasted pecans, minced garlic, lemon zest, or a sweet glaze like teriyaki or apricot
Instructions
- Blanch the Green Beans:
Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the green beans. Blanch them for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. - Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is smooth. - Cook the Bacon:
In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until it becomes crispy. Remove it from the pan and set aside, leaving some bacon grease in the skillet. - Cook the Green Beans:
In the same skillet, heat the sauce mixture. Add the blanched green beans and toss them gently until they’re well-coated in the sauce. Let them cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. - Add the Bacon and Optional Ingredients:
Stir in the crispy bacon and any additional flavor enhancers like sesame seeds, minced garlic, or lemon zest. - Serve:
Serve the green beans immediately, garnished with extra bacon or nuts if desired. Enjoy this deliciously addictive side dish!
