Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup milk
- Optional: 1/2 cup blueberries or chocolate chips for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. - Incorporate the Butter:
Add the cold butter pieces to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. - Add the Milk:
Slowly pour in the milk and stir until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix. - Optional Mix-ins:
If desired, gently fold in blueberries, chocolate chips, or other mix-ins of your choice. - Shape the Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape it into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into 8 wedges. - Bake the Scones:
Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are lightly golden. - Cool and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let the scones cool slightly. Serve warm with clotted cream, butter, or jam.
