Spicy Louisiana Shrimp Dip: A Crowd-Pleasing Appetizer

  • Author: Jessica

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Hot sauce (optional), to taste
  • Finely chopped jalapeño (optional), to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish or serving bowl.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, and cook minced garlic and diced onions until they’re fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until pink and cooked through, then remove them from the heat. Chop the shrimp into smaller pieces.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, dried thyme, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
  5. Stir in the chopped shrimp, leaving a few aside for topping later.
  6. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly around the edges.
  7. Remove from the oven and top with the reserved shrimp and garnish with parsley or chopped green onions.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dippers, such as crackers, pita chips, or veggie sticks.
