Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast.
    • Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough:
    • Add all-purpose flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture.
    • Stir until the mixture forms a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface.
    • Knead for 5-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Use the heel of your hand to push the dough, fold it over, and repeat.
  4. First Proof:
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
    • Let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape and Use:
    • After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into portions if making multiple pizzas.
    • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
    • Add your favorite toppings and bake on a preheated baking sheet or pizza stone at 475°F (245°C) for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy.
