- 2 large flour or corn tortillas
- 1 cup refried beans
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (Monterey Jack and mozzarella recommended)
- 1 cup cooked, seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken
- Optional toppings: diced onions, sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, and sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Base:
- Place one tortilla on a baking sheet.
- Spread a layer of refried beans evenly over the tortilla.
- Top with a layer of salsa, followed by shredded cheese and the seasoned ground beef or chicken.
- Layer and Assemble:
- Place the second tortilla on top of the first layer.
- Repeat the process: spread refried beans, add salsa, sprinkle cheese, and top with the meat.
- Bake:
- Transfer the assembled Mexican pizza to the oven.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are golden brown.
- Add Toppings and Serve:
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Garnish with diced onions, sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, and any other desired toppings.
- Slice and serve warm.
