Description

This recipe, which I’m calling “Magic Mix,” is all about creating a fun, colorful, and incredibly easy snack mix. It’s perfect for parties, movie nights, or just a sweet treat

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) box Lucky Charms cereal, marshmallows separated (about 2 cups marshmallows + 6 cups cereal)
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzel snaps (or mini pretzels)
  • 1 (16 ounce) package vanilla candy coating OR 1 (20 ounce) package vanilla almond bark
  • 1 (2 ounce) container rainbow jimmies or sprinkles
  • 2 cups Trix Minis cereal (or another rainbow-colored cereal)

Instructions

  • Separate the Lucky Charms: Carefully separate the marshmallows from the cereal pieces in the box of Lucky Charms. You should have about 2 cups of marshmallows and 6 cups of cereal.

  • Combine the Base: In a large bowl, combine the 6 cups of Lucky Charms cereal (the cereal pieces, not the marshmallows), the Rice Chex cereal, and the pretzels.

  • Melt the Candy Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the vanilla candy coating or almond bark according to the package directions. This usually involves microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth and melted. Be careful not to overheat it.

  • Coat the Mix: Pour the melted candy coating over the cereal and pretzel mixture in the large bowl. Use a large spoon or spatula to toss everything together until it’s evenly coated.

  • Spread and Decorate: Spread the coated mixture out in an even layer on a sheet of parchment paper. Immediately sprinkle with rainbow jimmies, then the Trix Minis cereal, and finally the reserved Lucky Charms marshmallows.

  • Cool and Break Apart: Allow the mixture to cool completely at room temperature. This will allow the candy coating to set and harden. Once it’s set, break it apart into pieces.

  • Store: Store in a clear glass jar or plastic bag at room temperature for up to 2 weeks
