Description

Learn how to make these delicious and easy Pizza Rolls! This detailed recipe uses refrigerated pizza dough for a quick and customizable snack or appetizer. Get step-by-step instructions, variations, and a comprehensive FAQ.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Dough:

  1. On a lightly floured surface, unroll the refrigerated pizza dough.
  2. If the dough is not already in a rectangular shape, use a rolling pin to gently roll it into a rectangle (approximately 10×12 inches).

3. Add the Toppings:

  1. Spread a thin, even layer of pizza sauce or marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a small border (about 1/2 inch) around the edges. This border helps prevent the sauce from leaking out during baking.
  2. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  3. If using, add the mini pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese.
  4. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the toppings.

4. Roll and Slice:

  1. Starting from one of the long edges, carefully and tightly roll the dough into a log.
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick rolls.

5. Bake the Pizza Rolls:

  1. Place the pizza rolls cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each roll.
  2. Lightly brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil or cooking spray. This helps them brown and become crispy.
  3. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Garnish and Serve:

  1. Remove the pizza rolls from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  2. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce for dipping.
