Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup mini pepperoni slices (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Cooking spray or olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Dough:
- On a lightly floured surface, unroll the refrigerated pizza dough.
- If the dough is not already in a rectangular shape, use a rolling pin to gently roll it into a rectangle (approximately 10×12 inches).
3. Add the Toppings:
- Spread a thin, even layer of pizza sauce or marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a small border (about 1/2 inch) around the edges. This border helps prevent the sauce from leaking out during baking.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
- If using, add the mini pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese.
- Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the toppings.
4. Roll and Slice:
- Starting from one of the long edges, carefully and tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick rolls.
5. Bake the Pizza Rolls:
- Place the pizza rolls cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each roll.
- Lightly brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil or cooking spray. This helps them brown and become crispy.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Remove the pizza rolls from the oven and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
- Serve warm with extra pizza sauce or marinara sauce for dipping.
