Description
This recipe, which I’m going to call “Saint Patrick’s Day Puppy Chow” (though it’s important to note that actual puppy chow is not for dogs!), is a festive and easy-to-make snack mix
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 16 ounces Wilton’s Green Icing
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¾ cup Sugar Cookie Mix
- Gold Sprinkles (or any color)
Instructions
-
Measure Cereal: Measure out 6 cups of Rice Chex cereal and add it to a large bowl.
-
Prepare Sugar Mixture: Add the powdered sugar and sugar cookie mix to a 2-gallon baggie. Set aside.
-
Melt Icing: Add the green icing to a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat it.
-
Coat Cereal: Pour the melted icing over the cereal in the large bowl. Carefully fold the cereal and icing together until the cereal is evenly coated. Add in the sprinkles while folding.
-
Add to Bag: Transfer the coated cereal to the baggie containing the powdered sugar and cookie mix.
-
Shake to Coat: Seal the baggie tightly and shake vigorously until the cereal is completely coated with the sugar mixture.
-
Spread and Dry: Pour the coated cereal out onto a baking pan lined with parchment or wax paper. Spread it out in an even layer. Add more sprinkles, if desired. Allow it to dry completely.
-
Break Apart: Break the mixture into pieces for serving.
