Description

This recipe is inspired by the fun and festive spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a sweet and salty treat that’s perfect for sharing

Ingredients

Scale

  • 50 Saltine Crackers
  • 1 Cup Butter, cut into chunks (2 sticks)
  • 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 2 Cups White Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 Cup Green Chocolate Melts
  • St. Patrick’s Day inspired sprinkles

Instructions

Let’s walk through the steps of making this festive St. Patrick’s Day Crack:

First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius). Line a large cookie tray with aluminum foil and spray it generously with cooking spray.

Line the saltine crackers up neatly in rows on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are touching but not overlapping.

In a medium-sized pot, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent burning.

Once the butter is melted, bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to stir the entire time and boil for about 2 minutes. It will look bubbly and gorgeous.

Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the top of the saltine crackers. Use a spatula to gently spread it evenly across the crackers.

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 7 minutes. The toffee will be bubbly and the crackers will be slightly golden.

While the crack is in the oven, melt your green chocolate melts according to the package directions.

Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle the white chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee and crackers.

The heat from the toffee will melt the chocolate chips. You can put the pan back in the oven for a minute or two to help the melting process along.

Once the chocolate chips are melted, use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee and crackers.

Pour the melted green chocolate over the top of the white chocolate in a decorative way. You can drizzle it, swirl it, or create any pattern you like.

Use a butter knife tip or other small tool to help combine the green and white chocolate to your liking. Create swirls or other designs.

Quickly decorate with St. Patrick’s Day sprinkles before the chocolate sets. The melted chocolate will act as your glue.

Let the St. Patrick’s Day Crack cool completely at room temperature, or chill it in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

Once the chocolate is set, break the crack into pieces and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
