Ingredients

Scale

Red Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • ½ cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef, 80/20
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ¾ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 ½ (24-ounce) jars spaghetti sauce

Pasta

  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 16 ounces spaghetti

Alfredo Sauce

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

Red Sauce

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet. Stir in onion and green pepper, then sauté over medium heat until translucent.
  3. Stir in the garlic and continue to sauté until fragrant, 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook, crumbling, until no longer pink. Drain off any grease.
  5. Add salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and spaghetti sauce; set aside.

Pasta

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions, adding 1 tablespoon salt to the water.
  2. Drain.

Alfredo Sauce

  1. In a separate pan, melt butter. Add garlic and sauté on low until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Sprinkle flour over garlic and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in cream until smooth.
  4. Return to heat and stir Parmesan cheese into Alfredo sauce. Gently cook until the cheese melts.

Assembling and Baking

  1. Add drained pasta to Alfredo sauce and toss to coat.
  2. Spread coated pasta into the prepared baking pan.
  3. Top pasta with red sauce. Don’t mix the layers.
  4. Sprinkle top with mozzarella and bake, uncovered, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 30 minutes.
  5. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle top with fresh parsley and a little dried Italian seasoning.
