Description

This recipe, “Cauliflower Buffalo Wings,” is a plant-based take on the classic Buffalo wings, using cauliflower florets instead of chicken. It is a great party food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup buffalo sauce

  • 2 tbsp vegan butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Make Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to make a smooth batter.

  3. Dip Cauliflower: Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, letting any excess drip off.

  4. Place on Baking Sheet: Place the battered cauliflower florets on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they’re not touching.

  5. Bake (First Time): Bake for 20 minutes, or until the batter is set and the cauliflower is starting to brown.

  6. Make Buffalo Sauce Mixture: While the cauliflower is baking, mix the Buffalo sauce and melted vegan butter in a separate bowl.

  7. Toss in Sauce: Remove the cauliflower from the oven and toss it in the Buffalo sauce mixture, making sure each floret is well coated.

  8. Bake (Second Time): Return the sauced cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until crispy.

  9. Serve: Serve immediately with vegan ranch dressing, celery sticks, or your favorite dipping sauce.
