Description

There’s something magical about coming home to the smell of slow-cooked BBQ wafting through the kitchen. The kind of meal that’s warm, comforting, and always a hit with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale

3 lbs pork shoulder
1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
1 onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste
Buns or rice, for serving
Coleslaw (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Step 1: Season the Pork
Place the pork shoulder into the bottom of the slow cooker.

Sprinkle with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin. Rub the seasoning into the meat gently with your hands or a spoon.

Step 2: Add Aromatics
Scatter the sliced onions and minced garlic around the pork.

These will soften as they cook and blend into the sauce, adding incredible flavor.

Step 3: Pour on the Sauce
Pour the BBQ sauce over the pork, making sure it’s coated on all sides.

You can use more than one cup if you like extra saucy pulled pork.

Step 4: Slow Cook Until Tender
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–5 hours, until the pork is fork-tender and easily shreds.

Avoid lifting the lid often—it slows down cooking and lets out steam.

Step 5: Shred and Serve
Remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board or plate.

Shred the meat using two forks, discarding any large pieces of fat. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it back into the sauce.

Serve on sandwich buns, over rice, or with your favorite sides. Top with coleslaw for crunch if desired.
