Description

This Hamburger Green Bean Casserole is a comforting, hearty dish made with ground beef, green beans, and a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with melted cheese and crispy fried onions for a delicious, easy-to-make family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans green beans, drained (or 4 cups fresh/frozen)
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk (or beef broth)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups French fried onions
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup diced mushrooms (sautéed with onions)
  • Optional: 1 tbsp ketchup or mustard
  • Optional: Cooked bacon crumbles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and paprika.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
  6. Top with French fried onions.
  7. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sauté diced mushrooms with onions before mixing.
  • Add ketchup or mustard for a burger-like tangy twist.
  • Top with cooked bacon crumbles for a smoky flavor boost.
  • Fresh or frozen green beans can be used instead of canned for a fresher taste.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
