This Deep Hamburger Sausage Pie combines ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and melty cheeses all enclosed in a golden, buttery pie crust. It’s a hearty and satisfying dish perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

- 2 ready-bake pie crusts (approx. 450 g total)
- 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese
- 100 g shredded cheddar cheese or provolone cheese
- 225 g ground beef
- 225 g Italian sausage (casings removed, optional)
- 100 g pepperoni slices
- 350 ml pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, plus extra for topping
- 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 45 ml melted butter (for brushing crust)
Instructions
- Cook ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat and let cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a deep-dish pie pan or deep skillet.
- Spread half the mozzarella cheese over the base crust.
- Layer the cooked ground beef, sausage, and half the pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese.
- Pour the pizza or marinara sauce evenly over the meat layer. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar (or provolone) cheese. Arrange the remaining pepperoni slices over the top.
- Cover with the second pie crust, crimp the edges to seal, and brush the top with melted butter and a sprinkle of garlic powder.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding sautéed onions or mushrooms to the meat layer.
- Make sure the crust is sealed well to prevent any filling leakage during baking.
- Letting the pie cool slightly before slicing helps it hold together better.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- Use spicy pepperoni and extra red pepper flakes for a spicier version.
